| Mission Statement | Our Catholic Foundation | |
|
The Mission of our Catholic Foundation is to encourage spiritual and material growth by providing financial assistance for needs that exceed parish and diocesan resources. Adopted December, 2000
Humanitarian Concerns Fund Ever mindful of our obligation as Catholics to help the least among us, this broad based Fund was established. It is secular in nature and designed to provide funding where it is most needed. Past support has been given to entities ranging from supporting a food bank to assisting migrant workers with everyday living needs.
The General Fund While this Fund does not have an identified recipient, it is very important because it gives our Catholic Foundation the ability to respond to emergency situations and to fund additional needs to any of the listed Funds. The General Fund gives our Catholic Foundation the wherewithal to be approachable and proactive in meeting needs throughout the diocese. |
Our Catholic Diocese of Pueblo Foundation was established in 1995 by Bishop Arthur N. Tafoya with funds from the Seminarian Burse Endowment. Today, this is the largest Endowment in the Foundation with assets totaling more than one million dollars. The good works of this Endowment, supplementing the cost of educating and training seminarians, continues each year using the interest generated while keeping the principal intact to help our diocese educate our future priests. The success of the Seminarian Endowment Fund and the rewards of its lasting and ongoing contribution to our faith led the Foundation Board to seek to expand its good works to touch more lives in our Diocese. The current areas of support, chosen as a starting point for our young Foundation, serve our Diocese in many ways. They are: Parish and Mission Assistance, Tuition Assistance to Diocesan Catholic Schools, Humanitarian Concerns and a General Fund. These Funds are in their infancy having begun with a small corpus. With your help, we will be able to secure their funding for the future and continue to expand the benefits of the Foundation and serve the many needs within our diocese. |

The Diocese of Pueblo is economically and geographically diverse. Within it are parishes and missions with needs that exceed their limited financial ability. Parishioners throughout the diocese are generous in their giving, however, in numerous communities, specific needs extend beyond the financial abilities. Monies from our Catholic Foundation help assure these parishes will be able to provide for their parishioners and continue to be beacons of hope, faith and charity where the need is greatest. Our Catholic Foundation's present ability to address these needs is limited. Future gifts to this Fund and the others listed have the impact necessary to change lives and secure a brighter future for our Diocese and those it serves. |
Presently, there are four diocesan catholic grade schools and one diocesan Catholic high school. They are: Saint Therese Catholic School, Pueblo; Saint Columba Catholic Schools, Durango; Holy Family Catholic School, Grand Junction and Trinidad Catholic Grade School and High School, Trinidad. (Trinidad grade and high school are currently closed.) Catholic education is the primary ministry through which our Catholic faith is propagated. Providing academic excellence and teaching moral values within a disciplined environment is a Catholic education tradition. Offering Catholic education to any and every child who seeks it is a priority of our Catholic Foundation. You are encouraged to invest in the future of our Catholic faith with a gift in support of the Foundation Tuition Assistance Fund. |

As followers of Christ, it is our challenge to continue to develop a more loving and caring community where the needs of all are anticipated. We strive to be a community whose members do more for their faith than is asked of them, supporting it beyond what is due merely in justice. This is our opportunity to perpetuate our legacy for future generations of Catholics in southern and western Colorado. Dollars do not buy religious services or vocations or increased faith. They merely provide the means to carry out more practically and completely the teachings of Christ. Your gift to the Foundation will be carefully shepherded to grow and continue to provide for Catholics far into the future. Saint Therese of the Little Flower is the patroness of the Diocese of Pueblo. We honor her through a bequest program, intended to provide for the temporal needs of our Catholic Foundation. People who remember the Catholic Foundation in their will are welcome into membership in the Saint Therese Society once they inform our Foundation office of their intent. The Saint Therese Society gives each of us the opportunity to leave a gift to help perpetuate our faith as God calls us home. |
Each member of the Diocese of Pueblo is important to God and to each
other. The commandment to love one another not only meets a
requirement of natural law, but adds to it a spiritual dimension.
Thus, when we participate in the work of the Church, we establish a
relationship; but when we participate in providing Christ centered
services and facilities, we build a spirit of community based on love
and common mission. All endowment funds have a perpetual existence. This means that your gift principal will never be used while the earnings will be distributed as you intended. Your gift will have an infinite capacity to keep giving far beyond your own lifetime. And, your endowment can provide a stable, predictable source of income for worthy causes. IN a very real sense, your gift to our Catholic Foundation is an act of faith in God, an act of hope in the future and an act of love for your neighbor.
